In Spanish, gustar literally means “to be pleasing.” So the thing liked is the subject. You say: Me gusta la serie. (The series is pleasing to me.) For plural things: Me gustan las películas. Keep an eye on singular vs. plural!

A mí me las películas de acción.

Me esta serie nueva.

Me gusta las películas de terror. → Me gustan las películas de terror. Use gustan with plural things (las películas).

Dar opiniones: simple adjectives that go far

Use ser + adjective to describe a movie/series:
